Gedan barai - Lower sweep block

With Gedan barai you can fend off very good kicks and strikes to the lower half of the Chudan area (abdomen, stomach). Even higher set kicks in the upper Gedan area can be blocked with Gedan barai. The target surface is formed by the upper side of the forearm. To establish sufficient force into the block, it is necessary to take a far swing with the blocking arm (best from the opposite ear downwards).

The block movement should be stopped before the entire stretch of the elbow joint, because of possibly injury to the joint. A continuation of the attacking limb, is also possible here.
