Elbow
[Articulatio cubiti]
Anatomy:
- The elbow joint [Articulatio cubiti] is a composite joint. It consists functional of three sub joints with a common joint capsule in which the humerus bone and the two bones of the forearm; radius and ulna, are connected. The forearm can be bended and stretched at the elbow joint to the upper arm. In addition, the joint is functionally involved in the movements of the hand turn.
Attack:
- Target of the attack is not the elbow tip, but the indentation above.
All kind of strikes on the strechtched joint, particular Hand edge strikes (Tegatana ate), Hammer fist strikes (Kentsui ate, Elbow strike (Hizi ate)
Elbow lever techniques (Ude kansetzu waza)
Consequence:
- Fracture; Dislocation of the joint
Comment:
- Here great attention is required to the proportionality. Fractures can cause permanent damage.
