Sciatic nerve
[Nervus ischiadicus]
Anatomy:
- The Nervus ischiadicus is a peripheral nerve of the leg. It arises from the Plexus sacralis and contains fibers from the spinal cord segments. It is the strongest nerve of the human body. It supplies motorized the flexor of the thigh muscles and with its two main branches motorized and sensitive from the popliteal fossa the lower leg and foot. After formation in the Plexus sacralis After formation in the sacral plexus, it runs at the rear thigh to the fossa poplitea. He is covered in its course by the Musculus biceps femoris . The Nervus ischiadicus is divided above the popliteal fossa into two branches: The Nervus tibialis and the Nervus fibularis communis.

- Feeling of numbness; muscular weakness; restriction of movement
