In January 1975, under the leadership of Grand Master Hans Gert Niederstein Hanshi, 10th Dan Jiu Jitsu, died in 1985 and the members of the Corporation International Black belts e.V. ("KID"), the umbrella organization founded for all national associations and their schools in Germany, the German Jiu Jitsu Federation e.V. ("DJJB"). He was founder and first president of the DJJB. After his death he appointed his successor, who then became president of this covenant, and currently is. At the same time he fills the post of national coach in professional sports technical field.

Meaning and purpose of the covenant is the dissemination and maintenance of the Japanese martial art of Jiu Jitsu. The association is non-profit, pursues exclusively charitable purposes and is politically, religiously and racially neutral and independent. All officials of the Association are volunteers.

The DJJB is a sub-organization of the corporation Black belts International e.V. and a member of the "United Nations of Ju Jitsu" (UNJJ).
