The herein described Duo-competitive system is the set of rules of the "German Ju-Jutsu Association" (DJJV).

In a duo competition each two partners compete together and run according to predefined attacks a battle. Reviewed here are the cleanliness and precision with which the techniques shown are applied, as well as the dynamic overall impression. To an observer, it is often not clear that it is a choreographed stage combat, as experienced duo fighters a real conflict lay to generate momentum for the day.

There are 20 attacks, which are divided into four series each with 5 attacks:

Serie A: Holding attacks

  1. Grip to the wrist
  2. Grasping the lapel
  3. Choking from the front or the rear
  4. Choking from the side
  5. Grip to the shoulder from behind

Series B: Clinch attacks

  1. Clinches from the front
  2. Clinches from behind
  3. Headlock from the side
  4. Headlock from the front
  5. Choking from behind with the forearm

Series C: Punches and kicks

  1. Punch to the head
  2. Punch to the midsection
  3. Hand outer edge blow to the neck
  4. Kick forward to the midsection
  5. Semi-circular kick to the midsection

Series D: Weapon attacks

  1. Knife from the outer above
  2. Straight knife stitch to the midsection
  3. Knife stitch vertically from above
  4. Stick strike from above
  5. Stick strike diagonally from the top

For each series, the duo pairs must alternately each show three attacks. The judges consists usually of five judges and the mat referee who announces the attacks. The judges rated the techniques shown from 0 to 10 points. The highest and the lowest score drop out from the valuation, so that remaining 3 ratings. What techniques have to be show by the fighters will be draw lots for by the mat referee at the beginning of the fight; Both teams must demonstrate these techniques. The second pair of fighters gets the same attacks in a different order.
