Defense by using throwing techniques
Hand/schoulder throws - Te/Kata waza
Keywords:
Shoulder, squat down, Kuzushi, equal and opposite force, torque
|
|
In the group of hand throws (Te waza) techniques are included, where the aggressor will fall with the aid of TORI´s hands. The principles of "tilting" and "pulling" will be applied here. For each of the two principles are the hands of TORI the main point of contact with the aggressor. During the execution there are no more points of contact between the aggressor and TORI to preserve the feature of the hand throws. The shoulder throws as usual at the Kodokan system were set here together with the hand throws. In the Kawaishi system the kata waza (shoulder throws) are set into a separate group: |
- Tilting - The aggressor is tilted with the hand or the hands of a non-existent obstacle, TORI's guiding hand performs a circular motion. (e.g. Uki otoshi)
- Pulling - here are the legs of the aggressor torn by the hands of TORI from the ground. (e.g. Sukui nage)
